The Smallest Things We Do

The smallest things we do become more than just a part of our own self.  Every deed done leaves its mark, not just on those who are around us in life, but on life itself.  Therefore, every impression we make is enduring.

When viewed like this, what tremendous responsibility is wrapped up in each day we are given from God.  Those things which we do today last for eternity.  A word spoken in the ear of the discouraged, a hand or restraint placed upon the arm of the tempted, the gift of prayer breathed softly on the life of the bereaved — we will never know the ministry that these deeds may perform, or the destiny to which they will travel.

Action And Affect

We are not to be concerned with how our good deeds are used by God.  Often in life, when we intend for one action to touch a certain individual, it in fact affects someone else.  Even when we have appeared to fail and wasted our time and effort, we may well have affected our self.

We do not always know who is affected by what we do, but we can believe this — things which we do are not lost.  God will use our good deeds for a blessing as he chooses.
