Christ does not seem to answer many Christians when they cry to him in times of sorrow, depression, or confusion. However, it must be remembered that this may not be his declining to listen. Instead, it may be that we are not ready to hear him and to receive the blessing which he offers. Christ wants to help, but just like a parent dealing with a child, he know that there are times when we will not listen.
Instead of doubting or blaming Christ for not being true to his word, perhaps we should look into ourselves. Are we listening for the words we want to have spoken, or are we willing to hear his words and to follow his instructions — whatever they say and wherever they lead?
