God Is Here

People have a tendency to think that God is not here simply because we do not see him.  But centuries ago he spoke the words, “I am with you always,” and that is just as true today.  We are never out of God’s sight or knowledge, even for a moment.  God watches and knows our lives every instant, and not a time goes by when he does not come to us in our need or comfort us in our pain.  So we can rest in “blessed assurance,” knowing that God sees us and delivers us.

The Light Of God

As the sun is the most universal benefactor of nature, in the same way God gives to us.  However, with the sun there are variables: due to the earth’s rotation we say that it rises and sets; from one season to the next it provides various degrees of warmth; clouds block the view or smog reduces it’s brightness.  However, the sun never changes, rather it is the earth which is in constant motion.

So it is with God.  His nature is influenced by nothing; His duration is dependent upon nothing and is not affected by time; and nothing caused Him to come into existence.  Like the sun, He is always there and it is us who turn away from Him, get out of the light, or cover our eyes against the brightness.

O that we would allow ourselves to be bathed in the full grace of His light.

“Every good endowment and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”  —James 1:17
